RCC warning of e-mail scam

RCC is warning residents not to respond to unsolicited emails offering refunds for an overpayment. Several residents have received an email that appears to come from HM Revenue & Customs and claims to offer a refund following a City Council overpayment for late 2017. RCC say that if they need to contact you about a refund they we will do this by letter or, rarely, by email from an RCC address. If you receive a scam email you should immediately contact Action Fraud the UK's national fraud and cybercrime reporting centre, on 0300 123 2040 or through the Action Fraud website: www.actionfraud.police.uk.
